Janelle Monáe brought another imaginative character to life for Halloween 2026, revealing an elaborate fish-inspired costume that showcased her love of theatrical transformations.

The singer and actress introduced her original character, Phish Boy, during her annual Wondaween celebration on October 29 at the Santa Monica Pier in California. The event featured a Creature Carnival theme, bringing together music, costumes, and live entertainment.

Monáe’s transformation included detailed facial prosthetics, oversized fish eyes, fins, and webbed hands. A striped vest, matching trousers, and red tie completed the look, giving the unusual creature the appearance of an old-fashioned carnival performer.

On October 30, Monáe shared photos and videos of the costume on Instagram, offering followers a closer look at the character and acknowledging the creative team behind the transformation.

The appearance continued Monáe’s tradition of elaborate Halloween costumes, which have become a recognizable part of her public celebrations.

Through Wondaween, the performer has developed an annual event that combines her interests in music, fashion, visual storytelling, and creative expression.
